Press reports say engineers at the Beijing-based China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics (CAAA) are developing a new app-based UAV management system for medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) platforms. Jane’s reports that the CAAA – the UAV business unit of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) – has been working on the app since 2014 and expects field trials to start “in the near future”. The UTM app is expected to be integrated into the company’s platforms such as the Cai Hong 4 (Rainbow 4/CH-4).
