Aloft completes FAA LAANC onboarding

Aloft has successfully completed the United States Federal Aviation Administration Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC) onboarding for the latest version of its LAANC platform, which is designed to provide more timely and actionable information for uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) operators.

Aloft has completed 1.4 million authorisations since becoming a UAS service supplier (USS) in 2018. The latest version of LAANC introduces new features, particularly for Part 107 operators and those using further coordination requests.

The automatic expiration of further coordination requests has been reduced from 24 hours to three hours. This change is designed to provide air traffic control (ATC) with more opportunities to review and approve requests promptly.

In addition, ATC can now send feedback on why a request was denied, with specific guidance such as “to resubmit 100ft lower.” This feature allows operators to understand and adjust their requests which may increase the likelihood of approval on subsequent submissions.

The new capabilities are now available on the Aloft Air Control platform, on iOS or Android mobile apps or via the web version.
