New two-tonne payload cargo drone takes flight in China

Multiple media reports say that China’s Sichuan Tengden Sci-tech Innovation Co has made the first flight of a 2 tonne payload twin-engine cargo drone took off in southwestern Sichuan province on Sunday for its inaugural flight that lasted approximately 20 minutes, state media reported.

According to the CCTV news channel:

“China’s domestically developed large twin-engine unmanned transport aircraft, boasting a two-ton payload capacity, successfully completed its maiden test flight at the Lantian Airport in Zigong City in the southwestern province of Sichuan on Sunday morning. The maiden test flight lasted around 20 minutes, with all systems functioning normally.

“With a wingspan of 16.1 meters, a height of 4.6 meters, a cargo space of 12 cubic meters, and a payload capacity of two tons, the aircraft is the largest domestically developed unmanned transport aircraft designed to meet market demands in China. Moreover, the aircraft features easy loading and unloading, high reliability, safety, and intelligence, which, in turn, facilitate the expansion of new scenarios in air cargo transport and the creation of new business forms such as low-altitude economic smart logistics.”
