Russian drone strays into Belarus airspace

Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, Commander of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said in a Telegram post that a Russian Shahed-type strike drone had strayed into Belarusian airspace in the early hours of July 13.

Oleshchuk said Russia launched five of the drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk towards Ukraine during an air raid, and that Ukrainian military had shot down four of in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.

“The fifth left Ukrainian airspace in the direction of the Gomel region of Belarus,” MSN reported the commander as saying, with local media reports suggesting the drone flew for at least 300km over Belarus.

This is not the first occurrence of a Russian strike drone reaching Belarus. For example, another incursion happened just two days prior, on July 11. The location of both drones is currently unknown.
