Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East (ACI APAC & MID), an association representing 624 airports, has spoken of the critical need to integrate emerging air traffic into the airspace.
ACI APAC & MID presented at the International Civil Aviation Organisation Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation for the Middle East region in Riyadh on May 19 and 20. Representatives highlighted the need for enhancing air connectivity and seamlessly integrating Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) into the current air transportation framework.
ACI APAC & MID emphasised the importance of restoring and developing air connectivity, urging countries to further liberalise market access policies in terms of traffic rights on a bilateral and multilateral basis.
The association also called for harmonised standards, certifications, and policy frameworks to regulate the AAM sector. To achieve these goals, ACI APAC & MID encourages countries to consider AAM in airport master planning and engage in continuous and inclusive dialogue with stakeholders.
