The European Space Agency (ESA) HAPS4ESA workshop will take place on 12-14 February 2024 in Leiden, Netherlands – open to all interested parties from industry, academia and regulatory bodies to participate.
High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (HAPS) are uncrewed platforms operating at an altitude of approximately 20 kilometres in the stratosphere, making them a new and attractive technology to fill the gap between terrestrial and space systems. HAPS complement and extend the capabilities of satellites found in Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation, offering unique capabilities for the development of value-adding applications and science.
The objectives of the workshop are to:
📌Assess the state-of-the-art features of HAPS and learn about recent developments
📌Identify future perspectives of HAPS in Europe
📌Discuss synergies between HAPS and satellites in the domains of Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation
📌Learn about new and improved science, services and applications that is enabled by combining HAPS and space assets
📌Collect recommendations for future ESA programmes and activities
