At DSEI 2023 in London this morning, MARSS launched the Interceptor-SR (for short range), a compact, lightweight portable effector for the C-UAS mission.
The original Interceptor, launched last year, is an AI-enabled autonomous UAS offering an intelligent, cost-effective and low collateral effects alternative to short-range missiles to counter hostile drones. The new portable solution places engagement capability at over 1,000 metres in the hands of mounted or dismounted infantry, marking what the company terms “a step change in vehicle and personnel drone protection”.
Mounted elements can make use of multiple launchers; the combination of the Interceptor-SR with the NiDAR C2 systems and onboard sensors provides for autonomous tracking and kinetic engagement. For dismounted infantry, a further version is in development, packaged around a re-usable lightweight shoulder launcher, with an integrated thermal sight to find and target hostile drones and an ‘over-the-loop’ operator presence to confirm engagement or abort at any time.
Interceptor-SR is fully compliant with the UK MoD SAPIENT standard and therefore interoperable with other compliant battlefield sensors and networks.
