Supernal’s Mike Whitaker “likely to become the next FAA administrator”

Reports in the Wall Street Journal say Mike Whitaker, Chief Commercial Officer for Supernal, a Hyundai company developing an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, will be the next administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration.

Mike Whitaker has spent his career in aviation, which began as an attorney for TWA in New York and Washington, then through 15 years at United Airlines in Chicago, where he served as senior vice president of alliances, international and regulatory affairs. After leaving United, he served as Group CEO at InterGlobe, India’s largest travel conglomerate, based in Delhi. In 2013, Mike was appointed by President Obama as Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, where he served until 2016.
