Defence IQ has launched its Global Directed Energy Systems Market Report 2023-2028.
“The market has been estimated to value USD657 million in 2023 and will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of as much as 26.2% to value USD2.1 billion in 2028,” according to the report.
“The US is by far the largest market for directed energy weapons with a cumulative spend of USD6.5 billion. Its main program includes the R&D component of the Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC)-High Energy Laser program – USD5.2 billion. Other notable programs include Israel’s indigenously developed Iron Beam – USD148 million; Japan’s research on high-powered laser systems and the development of high-power microwave (HPM) radiation technology for USD220 million and USD185 million respectively; and India’s Durga II – USD50 million.”
