H2FLY “achieves highest zero emission flight for HY4 hydrogen-electric passenger craft”

H2FLY, the Stuttgart-based developer of hydrogen fuel cell technologies for aircraft reports a successful test campaign towards two significant milestones to the goal of zero-emissions flying. The hydrogen-electric passenger aircraft HY4 flew emission free at 7,230 feet on 13 April 2022. With this, the HY4 set its own altitude record and, according to H2FLY, a new world record for hydrogen-electric passenger aircraft, according to the company.

On 12 April 2022, the HY4 flew a 77-mile journey from Stuttgart Airport to the AERO Friedrichshafen trade fair and thus for the first time to an airport other than its home and test airport. Stuttgart Airport has been a partner of H2FLY for many years and provides infrastructure support to H2FLY.

The HY4 will be exhibited at this year’s AERO Friedrichshafen trade fair from 26-30 April.
